Rhino Tuff, Inc. tests the insoles to the puncture resistant portion of the American National Standards Institutes (ANSI) Z41-1991 Standard since this is the standard the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) enforces, as specified in 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.136. In fact, 29 CFR 1910.136(b)(1) indicates that Protective Footwear shall comply with ANSI Z41-1991 Standard or the protective footwear shall be demonstrated by the employer to be equally effective.
In addition, 29 CFR 1910.136(a) indicates that it is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that their employees use protective footwear that will prevent injuries due to the types of hazards that may be encountered on the jobsite. If foot puncture hazards exist, then the employer must ensure that the employee is wearing protective footwear that can resist object piercing the bottom of the foot.
